Patient’s skin cells turned into neurons, allows for tailored drug therapy, shows decrease in number of synapses

Scientists in the US have created induced pluripotent stem cells in culture from the skin cells of schizophrenia patients that can then be turned into neurons. The method could enable medical professionals to tailor drug therapy that is unique to the individual and also shows a decrease in the number of synapses when compared to healthy controls.
